Session Details
This practical presentation will help increase your awareness and preparedness when navigating interactions with individuals experiencing homelessness. This session will provide practical knowledge, strategies, and resources to help you navigate these interactions with greater confidence and understanding.
This session is free to attend and open to both BOMA Calgary members and non-members. We encourage you to invite your colleagues and network to join us for this valuable session.
- Factors contributing to homelessness and addiction, and the stigmas associated with both
- Recognizing how and when to navigate interactions with our unhoused neighbours
- Practical strategies to support personal and community safety
- Free community resources available and when to utilize them
- An interactive Q&A portion, providing an opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the presenter
- Morning: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
- Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
About the Presenter
Shaundra Bruvall is the Director of Communications, Community Engagement, and Fund Development at Calgary Alpha House Society. She has facilitated the Engaging Vulnerable Persons Workshops for the past five years, delivering them to a range of audiences including Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, The City of Calgary, local businesses, and community members.
