BOMA Calgary Event Code of Conduct
At BOMA Calgary, we are committed to creating events that are welcoming, safe, inclusive, and respectful for everyone. This Code of Conduct applies to all BOMA Calgary events and activities, including those involving members, guests, vendors, sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and partners.
Purpose
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure a positive and professional environment where all participants feel valued, respected, and included. BOMA Calgary is committed to fostering a community where individuals can connect, collaborate, and engage in a safe and respectful setting.
Expected Behaviour
Be Respectful
Treat all participants with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Listen to others, engage in constructive conversations, and avoid language or behaviour that may be offensive, harmful, or disrespectful.
Be Inclusive
BOMA Calgary welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Discrimination, exclusion, or disrespectful behaviour based on personal characteristics such as race, gender, age, disability, or other protected grounds will not be tolerated.
Act Professionally
Maintain a professional attitude and be mindful that your behaviour reflects on yourself, your organization, and the broader BOMA Calgary community.
Responsible Alcohol Use
Where alcohol is served, participants are expected to consume responsibly and ensure their conduct remains professional, respectful, and appropriate.
Prioritize Safety
Be aware of the safety and well-being of yourself and others. Report any unsafe, inappropriate, or concerning situations to a BOMA Calgary staff member or event organizer.
Respect Privacy and Confidentiality
Respect the privacy of others and do not share confidential or sensitive information obtained through BOMA Calgary events without appropriate permission. Participants should also obtain consent before taking or sharing photos, videos, or other content featuring attendees.
Bystander Responsibility
Everyone plays a role in maintaining a positive event environment. If you witness behaviour that may violate this Code of Conduct, we encourage you to intervene if it is safe to do so or report the concern to a BOMA Calgary staff member, volunteer, or event organizer.
Consequences of Misconduct
BOMA Calgary reserves the right to take appropriate action on infringement of this code to maintain a safe, respectful, and professional environment for all participants.
Photography and Media Consent
By attending, you consent to photography and videography being captured and used for promotional purposes without compensation. All media remains the property of BOMA Calgary and may be used in publications, marketing, and social media. If you do not wish to be included, please contact the BOMA office prior to the event.
