We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The role offers a wide variety of technical challenges on projects and meaningful client-facing responsibility.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing small to large scale projects. You will be involved in managing client relationships, and leading structural design, analysis, mentoring, and project management for a variety of projects, including commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential.

You have a strong background in design and management of structural engineering projects, including:
- Managing/overseeing projects.
- Structural design of new buildings.
- Exposure to renovations and additions of existing buildings.
- Report writing, fee proposals and invoicing.
- Managing multiple projects and clients at any given time.
- Mentoring junior staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Marketing to existing and new clients.

Responsibilities
- Lead projects from definition, through planning, design, and ensure quality delivery to clients.
- Responsible to design and detail structural elements, including design and calculations, computer modelling, and analysis.
- Prepare detailed design calculations, layouts, project specifications, schedules, reports, plans, designs, and cost estimates.
- Ensure project schedules are met.
- Investigate field and design problems.
- Conduct site visits and inspections.
- Participate in client meetings, facilitating solutions to design issues, providing status updates, and focuses on relationship building and business development.
- Peer review of structural designs prepared by junior/intermediate staff.
- Coaching and mentoring junior/intermediate engineers and designers.
- Interaction with clients, as it relates to marketing and the pursuit of new work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering.
- Professional Engineer registered in Ontario, with eligibility to register in other Canadian provinces/ territories.
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in structural engineering, design, or project management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
- Technical competency in the design of structural building systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant design standards and codes.
- Regularly updates their own technical knowledge and skills and stays current in engineering and best practices.
