Education

Education is one of the key pillars of BOMA Calgary. Through the BOMA Education Committee, BOMA Calgary provides industry-specific training for property and facility managers, building operators and other real estate professionals. Members are offered a variety of courses workshops and topical webinars to help them understand and advance the commercial real estate industry.

BOMA Calgary works in partnership with Mount Royal University and the Building Owners and Managers Institute of Canada (BOMI) to deliver the Real Property Administrator (RPA) and Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) designation courses, developed by BOMI Canada and BOMI International.

BOMA Calgary offers an online seminar course in the BOMA International Floor Measurement Standards.
Through the Building Operator Development Committee, BOMA Calgary now offers the Building Operator Level 3 Introduction course (online) and the Building Operator Level 2 – 5th Class Power Engineering course (in classroom format).

In 2009, BOMA partnered with the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) to offer the in class session of the RECA Mandatory Course.

The BOMA Environmental, Occupation Health & Safety Committee, in partnership with the Alberta Government formed a Working Group in 2009 and created the Recommended Practices in Health + Safety: A Guide for Building Owners + Managers.

In 2012, BOMA Public Safety Committee in collaboration with The City of Calgary created a task group to address  building maintenance of rooftops, appurtenances, and building envelopes of retail, industrial and office buildings. The Building Envelope Safety Supplement is the result of this partnership.

Whatever education is required by the industry, BOMA is poised to lead the way.
