Our Commitment to Member and Customer Privacy

 Our association is committed to providing every member and customer with quality service.  We consider the protection of personal information concerning each of our members and customers (including potential members and customers) to be a key part of our high level of service.

We consider “personal information” to be information about an identifiable individual.  We do not consider public information found in directories and listings, or business names, addresses and/or contact numbers, to be personal information.

We have adopted the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information (CAN/CSA -Q830) .  We will identify individuals in or association who are specifically responsible for our compliance with the CSA Code.

Why We Collect Personal Information

We collect and use personal information about our members and customers in order to identify them, to communicate with them, to protect the Association and our members and customers against error and fraud, to understand what products or services our members and customers want and to provide information about our products and services.  We do not disclose the personal information of our customers to anyone else and we will not permit anyone else to use the personal information of our members or customers for any purpose without the customer’s consent.

Website Information

 www.boma.ca/calgary’s operating system may automatically record some general information about your visit, such as:

• The Internet domain for your Internet service provider, such as "company.com" or "service.ca" and the IP address of the computer accessing the website, such as "ppp-55"
• The type of browser (such as "Netscape version x" or "Internet Explorer version x") you are using
• The type of operating system you are using (such as Macintosh, Unix, or Windows)
• The date and time you visit our site and the web pages that you visit on our site, along with the address of the previous website you were visiting, if you linked to us from another website.

We use this information for statistical analysis, to help us make our site more useful to visitors. We may disclose this non-personal information to third parties such as sponsors, clients or advertisers and/or use it for auditing purposes. This tracking system does not record personal information about individuals or link this information to any personal data collected.

We may use "cookies" that identify you as a return visitor. A cookie is a piece of data that a website can send to your browser, which may then store the cookie on your hard drive. So, when you come back to visit us again, we can tailor information to suit your individual preferences. The goal is to save you time and provide you with a more meaningful visit and to measure website activity. Cookies do not contain any personally identifying information. Personal information about our members and customers is only kept for as long as we need it to fulfill our stated purposes.  We maintain all personal information in our possession in as accurate, complete and up-to-date form as is possible.  Appropriate security safeguards have been put in place for all personal information in the possession of BOMA Calgary.

We will be happy to provide any individual with access to the personal information about him or her that we have in our possession.  Upon request, we will make all appropriate corrections and updates to the personal information in our possession.
